Brick Capital
Community Development Corporation (CDC) is a nonprofit organization,
which provides affordable housing and economic development opportunities
through education and investment in Sanford and Lee County. Brick Capital
CDC’s largest project to date is the restoration of the historically
African American W. B. Wicker School located in southern downtown. Once
completed the W. B. Wicker School will be a vibrant, thriving center
with a variety of opportunities available to all the surrounding community
including the Lee Harnett Mental Health Department, the Lee County Dental
Clinic, Fantasia Learning Center and a business incubator. The original
structure itself will contain a community center with a computer center;
a child and adult care center and the Boys and Girls Club. Programs
for residents of the neighborhood will include economic literacy, job
training and computer training. The auditorium is perfect for community
gospel sings, cultural events and dramatic performances. Restoring the
school in partnership with the alumni and the community will bring housing,
job training, community services, community education, economic wealth
and human vitality to the community. For more information about the
