Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce The Sanford Area Chamber of Commerce is the voice for over 600 Sanford area businesses. The Chamber of Commerce is an entirely self-supporting organization funded through an annual membership and receives no tax dollars. The Chamber’s key responsibilities include but are not limited to business retention and development, advocacy, community marketing, event coordinating, promotion, and tourism throughout Lee County. Although the Chamber of Commerce’s jurisdiction is obviously much broader in scope, the Chamber recognizes the importance of a healthy downtown in the overall scheme of economic growth for Lee County and, therefore, has been instrumental to the success of downtown and its most ardent supporter. Chamber of Commerce staff has even managed many downtown projects for DSI, most recently the 2003 Autumnfest, the 2003 Fine Arts Downtown, and the 2002 Holiday Gathering.
