Lee County Economic Development
Corp.
The Lee County
Economic Development Corporation (EDC), is a nonprofit organization,
working to attract, retain, and facilitate the expansion of high quality
businesses and create local job opportunities through sound planning
for infrastructure improvements to maximize potential for industrial
and residential growth. The EDC also administers the Committee of 100,
a support organization of business leaders committing time, energy and
resources to enhance the economic well-being of Lee County and its citizens.
Corporate and individual members assist the Lee County Economic Development
Corp. by establishing venture capital projects to expand local industry,
helping to promote economic growth and enhancing working relationships
among government, business and the community. In addition, the EDC is
an excellent resource for local demographic information for market analysis
purposes and offers comparisons to other parts of the state and region.
Recognizing
the importance that downtown plays in the role of economic development
for the county as a whole, the EDC is heavily involved with Downtown
Sanford, Inc. (DSI), with the director of the EDC sitting as a representative
on the DSI Board. For more information on the Lee County EDC, click
