State Development Zone

 

Lee County was approved for a State Development Zone in 2000. Companies who locate or expand their businesses in the designated State Development Zone can receive additional tax credits for any additional employees they hire at a specific rate, or machinery they acquire. In Lee County, a total of $4000 for job tax credits would be available for each job created and a seven percent tax credit would be available for any machinery that is purchased by companies locating or expanding in the development zone. Lee County's State Development Zone encompasses a portion of eastern Downtown Sanford.
